dRAWING: FOUR WAYS TO SEE

Instructor: David West
Duration: Four sessions over four weeks, 3 hour sessions
Price: $240
Supply fee: $8, optional sketchbook add-on
Pre-requisite: None
Ages: 16+

This beginner drawing course with David West will focus on the distinct ways to look at the world to improve drawing from life. While drawing is often confused with a talent or innate ability, in reality it is a knowable process that anyone can learn to do successfully. By shifting how you look, and specifically what you focus on when you look, drawing becomes less a confusing mystery and more a pleasurable and fulfilling activity. All materials will be provided, however, you can add-on one of David’s handmade sketchbooks or bring your own.

David West is an artist living in Birmingham with over 20 years of art teaching experience. He has an MFA in printmaking, has been a bookmaker for about a dozen years and is a drawing specialist. His work is a mixture of observation and contemplation exploring the world around him. There are very few things he would rather do than sit with a good friend, a good sketchbook, and see what there is to draw.
